Table Scapes....Let the season inspire your wedding reception decor. Whether it's fall, winter, spring or summer, the colors that those seasons inspire can also create a spectacular table display. Of course, the colors you choose should also complement the apparel worn in the wedding. The operative word being complement! Just because your bridesmaids are wearing peach, does not mean you have to have peach table decor. Lime Green would be a great color choice to set off the peach. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when attending a bridal show.
- Make sure you register either on line or at the door. On line will save you time at the door! Registering makes it possible to win prizes and allows you to receive special offers and discounts from participating exhibitors. If you are concerned about giving out your e-mail address, create a new one for during your wedding planning stages that you can eliminate later when the wedding is over.
- Bring pre-addressed labels to enter contests at various booths. If you don't have any, make your own on the computer, just make sure you include your wedding date.
- Bring your check book or credit card to take advantage of special "show only" offers.
- Plan on spending at least 4 to 5 hours to see everything including the fashion show.
- Bring your fiance for at least one trip, then come back and shop alone or with your mother or helpful friend. Attending twice helps you really take in all the information you will need to make wise decisions!
- Wear comfortable shoes, you'll be doing lots of walking. But think of all the time you will save in the long run if you had to run all over town to meet 180 wedding professionals.

Did you know that wedding cakes have been a part of wedding receptions since Roman times? The cake is a symbol of good luck and fertility. One of the best reasons for attending a bridal show is to taste the wedding cakes. How else will you make an informed decision? Not only is it important what it looks like, but you certainly want it to taste great!
Cakes can also come in many sizes from a traditional layered cake to individual cakes for each guest or even cupcakes!

If you are just getting started and you have 12 months or more to go, right now you should be concentrating on choosing the date, selecting the number of guests you will have and planning a budget. Next you should determine your ceremony and reception location. Over the weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Spring Bridal and Formal Market at The Venetian with Isha from Tres Jolie Bridal. This is the market where bridal and tuxedo retailers attend to purchase the latest in bridal, formalwear, and prom apparel. I can't wait for you to see the new spring collections at our next bridal show in January. They are fabulous! One of the highlights of attending Market was seeing the Desert Rose Awards given out. The Desert Rose Awards were created to recognize excellence in a company's efforts and products, and importantly to honor leadership and dedication. In the bridal gown category, winners were P. C. Mary's Bridal, Allure, and Maggie Sottero. The winner in the Headpiece category was Bel Aire. In Bridesmaids and Flower girl dresses the winner was Jordan. In Prom dresses the winner was Tiffany. The winner for Mother of the Bride was Montage by Mon Cheri. Many of these fabulous fashions will be shown in our fashion show at our next event. So don't miss it! The fashion show is always one of the favorite parts of attending a bridal show.

Thanks to the comment of a visitor to this blog, I am reminded that there are so many other categories represented at our events. We hope to cover all the categories with photos and tips for the brides over the next several months. As the visitor mentions, disc jockies are there! What a great way to find the perfect entertainment company for your wedding. You will be able to meet your prospective dj in person, interview them about their music selections and their experience as an emcee at a wedding. You may not realize that the dj or emcee at your wedding can control the flow of events from your grand entrance at the reception to the cutting of the cake. So take time to visit with them at the show and determine if their style both musically and in formalities matches what you expect at your event. Our recent event featured the following DJ companies. I was so impressed with the floral bouquets and floral decor ideas presented at the July bridal show. The flowers in the wedding are like the icing on the cake, so vital to the over all impression your wedding will create on your guests. It can go way beyond your bouquet, mother's corsages and the men's boutonnieres to incredible table scapes, arches and decorating of the head table.
Bouquets can be accented with pearls, rhinestones and beading and if lemons are your favorite thing, by all means create your florals around a lemon theme.This is one area you need to make sure you have alloted enough in your budget.
